Introduction
The Skyline Loop in Gatineau Park provides unique and enjoyable experiences in every season. This expansive trail boasts a mix of gentle ascents and descents, making it essential for hikers to don sturdy footwear, as the terrain shifts from a gravel incline at the outset to rocky stretches and occasionally muddy forest paths. Notably, this trail stands out as one of the few loop routes in Gatineau Park that ascends the eastern slopes of the hills, rendering it an excellent choice for those seeking a sunrise hiking adventure.
Getting There
The parking lot closest to the trail is P7 in Gatineau Park. It is located 20km from Ottawa downtown, so expect a 25-30min drive. The lot is quite large, but will fill up after 11AM on busy weekends.
The Trail
After parking and setting up for the hike - take the Trail 30. It starts with a decent hill and you walk up for 10 minutes or so. No rock-climbing, but definitely not stroller-friendly. After the initial climb, there are some ups and downs, but generally, it this is the toughest part and the rest of the way you basically walk on top of the hill.

There is not a lot of picnic places along the way, but there is a bench (with a view!) at the lookout, as well as some space on the rocks nearby.
Views
The trail name speaks for itself - it gives you a beautiful skyline of the city.

It probably looks great at the night time too. Though, I would not try it if you don't want to meet the wildlife.
Summary
It is a decent trail, takes 2-3 hours if you walk with the kids and the views are great, even though there is just one lookout. Definitely recommend, and would bring the friends here.
