Introduction
This is a hidden gem in the middle of Kanata, and you can quickly forget that you are in the middle of suburbia. Once and awhile road noise can be heard near the trailhead, but most of the loop feels like a wonderful sanctuary. This is a great challenge with all kinds of terrain, rocks, and uneven paths. It is recommended to bring bug spray to combat the mosquitos in the forest.
Getting There
The forest is located in North Kanata, approximately 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa. There is no dedicated parking lot, but there is a plenty of parking around it, i.e. along the Old Second Road.
The Trail
The trails are well-marked and easy to navigate. Somewhat narrow at times, but overall well maintained. Especially beautiful during the fall, with some golden pine needles covering the ground in October.

There is also a small lake in the middle of the forest, as well as a few swampy areas.

Some trees are just beautiful.

Be careful walking - after the rain you can meet a lot of frogs (the kids will be excited!), as well as sometimes snakes (those don't usually stay on the path).

This place is also known for MTB trails - the bikes are allowed and there are some interesting jumps and cliffs for those into it.
Summary
While it is definitely not the #1 spot to drive from Ottawa, it is a great place to enjoy the nature for those who live nearby.
